Half of the adults I coach come to the pool because a physiotherapist told them swimming would be kinder to a painful lower back than running. We fix breathing and body position first, because most back pain in the water comes from lifting the head and dropping the hips. The other half are triathletes who can ride and run but lose ten minutes on the swim leg. Lessons are one to one, so nobody has to keep up with a lane full of strangers.
